Troubleshooting - Why Can't I Clock In?

This article will walk you through the typical troubleshooting steps for finding out why an employee cannot clock-in.

Common issues:
  • Employee is inactive
  • Employee is not assigned a job
  • Employee is not assigned a security work-group
  • Employee does not have a password
  • Employee has a required message to review first
  • Employee is not scheduled to work

Employee Is Inactive:

Check to see if the employee is inactive. You can do this by navigating to Manager > Employee > Locate the employee's name > To the far right you can see the employee's status.

If the status is set to Inactive but you want them to be active; click on the employee's  name > change the status to Active.

Employee Is Not Assigned A Job:

To check an employee's job assignment, navigate to Manager > Employees > Locate the employee you wish to check > Click on their name > Job and Payroll > Select the Authorized Jobs you wish the employee to have > Save your changes.

Employee Is Not Assigned A Security Work-Group:

To check the employee's security work-group, navigate to Manager > Employee > System & Security > Select the Employee Security Level you wish the employee to have > Save your changes.

Employee Does Not Have A Password:

To check if an employee has a password navigate to Manager > Employees > Locate the employee you wish to check > System & Security > Make sure their password is set. You can change their password and save your changes if you need to.

Employee Has A Required Message To Review First:

If the employee has a message that is required they must first read the message before they can clock-in. The message will be displayed in bright red on the clock-in screen. To learn more about reading messages you can review the Reading Your Messages article.

Employee Is Not Scheduled To Work:

If an employee schedule is posted and the employee is not scheduled to work on the day that they're trying to clock in, then it could mean that you have enforced the schedule at clock in which means a manager will need to override in order for the employee to be able to clock in.

If you have walked through all of these troubleshooting steps and the employee still cannot clock-in give our support department a call and they will further troubleshoot the issue.
